Be sure to clean your clothes dryers lint trap and exhaust vents regularly. According to a recent study by the U.S. Fire Administration each year in the US dryer fires cause $35 million in property losses, 100 injuries and five fatalities. Failure to clean the vents/traps accounts for approximately 34% of these fires. The USFA reccommends cleaning lint traps and exhaust vents regularly for accumulating lint and dust. The USFA warns not to dry items that contain rubber, plastic or foam or items that have come in contact with gasoline, alcohol or other combustible chemicals.
